Our Family Support Team


We help more than 2,200 Queensland families to become happier, safer, healthier and stronger through our intervention and family support services.

These services are all about engaging with families early when challenges arise, and working with them to build from their strengths.

Our practical family support programs are located across Queensland, whereby we work closely with parents to develop their skills and relationships to help keep their family together, and give hope to their children.


The importance of this role


Reporting to the State Manager, Family Support Services, you will be the go-to person to lead the establishment of our Children, Youth and Families service offerings, as well as overseeing two additional established transitional services to young adults who are turning or have attained 18 years of age.


With the Honourable Leanne Linard's announcement that the Department of Children, Youth Justice & Multicultural Affairs has committed to improving post-care support up to 21 years, we want to prepare for how CYF will support young people leaving care as they transition to independent adulthood.

The role will have the unique prospect to expand and showcase your skills in:

  • Operational planning and project management
  • People leadership
  • Contemporary knowledge of evidencebased, therapeutic intervention, and case management models
  • Developing practice models, tools and templates
  • Embedding evidence and outcomesbased metrics of success
  • Working in partnership with wrap around supports to ensure holistic program design and delivery
  • Ensuring culturally appropriate programs to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Developing the workforce capability plan and staffing model, and budget


This role will require you to be adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of the organisation and the people that you support.

Being able to provide a rapid response in complex situations while thinking innovatively to solve issues, is a must.

You are often recognised for your problem solving, decision-making and negotiation skills.

Your extensive experience and qualifications will include a degree in social work, psychology, social sciences, or other related discipline.

You will also have a minimum three years' experience in a management role within a social welfare context as well as previous experience in child protection work.

Applied knowledge of financial management systems and budgeting is essential.
