The role

We have a rare senior opportunity for a Group External Communications Manager to lead GPT's media strategy and relationships, including delivering effective communication of GPT's strategy, business operations and performance externally.

This is a key advisory role to the Executive Team and broader business on media engagement and will be involved in drafting Media Releases, ASX Announcements, communication plans, briefing documents, key messages, Q&A and speech writing as required.

You will work closely with and report to the Head of Investor Relations & Corporate Affairs and lead one direct report alongside the broader Investment Relations team on a day to day basis to maintain a coordinated internal messaging approach.

What you will be doing

  • Managing GPT's external media, including communications strategy to maintain and enhance the company's brand and reputation, and ensure understanding of GPT's strategy and performance
  • Ensuring the Group's external media approach, messaging and delivery is in line with Group and business-level strategy
  • Driving engagement through the proactive development and delivery of print and digital content
  • Identifying opportunities, including industry events and media exposure where GPT's expertise can be elevated and demonstrated
  • Leading, maintaining and build relationships with key media outlets and journalists/editors relevant to GPT and its assets
  • Providing day-to-day responses to media issues that arise, including crisis communications responses at both the Group and asset levels
  • Developing and implementing communications campaigns and strategies and monitoring their success
  • Preparation of communications materials, including media releases, briefing notes and Q&A documents,
  • Managing content in the News & Media section of GPT's website, and manage and oversee the publishing of content on the Group's social media channels, namely LinkedIn
  • Supporting and assisting the Executive Team and subject matter experts with the creation and delivery of materials for speeches and external presentations
  • Work with the Senior Communications Specialist, including providing mentoring and oversight of the role, contributing to the learning and development of the individual in that role in addition to ensuring that the Group's external communications function runs efficiently
  • Manage media training requirements for key subject matter experts across the business;

What makes you stand out

We are looking for an experienced corporate communications specialist ready to take the next step in their career. You would ideally come from a similar role with strong exposure to business, media, reporting and investor relations functions.

You are a natural communicator and brand ambassador, able to distill complex messages into various external mediums and channels in a timely and above all professional manner.

You have a well honed ability to develop a corporate communication strategy aligned to a company's vision and have strong, project and change management skills. You can think creatively and influentially to engage with and partner with all levels of the business.
