Your New Role

Focusing on private market asset classes and reporting to the Senior Director – ESG and Stewardship, our responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in ensuring material ESG issues are incorporated into the Fund's investment programs, taking a lead and oversight role on some components
  • Assist the internal investment teams in incorporating ESG issues into valuations, conducting M&A due diligence on transactions and providing commentary on ESG issues during transaction and ownership phase, taking a lead and oversight role on some components
  • Assist in the ownership program (including engagement) with investee companies (boards or senior management), taking a lead role in setting the engagement agenda and holding the meeting in some instances
  • Lead thematic programs of work and influence investment teams, on strategic ESG themes (e.g. climate change, nature, sustainable digitalisation etc.)

In addition to the above, the role may involve assisting on other key activities undertaken by the team including:

  • Assist the Fund to meet its obligations including reporting and responsibilities of the various initiatives to which it is a signatory
  • Assist in working with the Fund's collaborative investor groups in achieving its ESG objectives, taking an oversight and/or leadership role on some groups
  • Assist in the development of due diligence or ownership frameworks and ESG and Stewardship policies for the Fund
  • Assist the Fund in its advocacy on public policy relating to ESG investment issues

What You'll Need

  • Demonstrated experience within Financial Services or a consulting firm, or similar, with experience in any of the responsible investment, corporate governance, legal, sustainability, environmental science and/or engineering fields
  • Exposure to one or more unlisted asset classes such as infrastructure, real estate, private equity or private credit through transactions is desirable
  • Experience in ESG issues and their application to investing
  • A strong passion for sustainability and ESG topics
  • Ability to effectively and comfortably communicate with internal investors, senior internal and external stakeholders, senior representatives of assets and service providers
  • Proven experience in research, completing due diligence and providing advice
  • Ability to prepare reports, analyse information and draw conclusions/recommendations Excellent organisational, prioritisation and self-management skills
