4290About the RoleMULTIPLE ROLES AVAILABLEThe Incident Response Services team provides on road, effective management at transport incidents, accidents, spillages, and emergencies that effects the flow of traffic on metropolitan freeways and arterial roads.

This opportunity will commence with 3mth training program based at Port Melbourne.
Provide incident response services on freeways and arterial roads.
Provide traffic management on freeways and arterial roads.
Identify incidents which have the potential to cause serious traffic or safety issues.
Provide regular status information to the Traffic Operations Centre during incidents.

Represent Department of Transport and Planning as the Traffic Commander when hand over is required on site from other agencies.

Arrange for the provision of appropriate resources to manage the incident.
Liaise with other agencies and resources to optimise outcomes and minimise community impacts for incidents.
Ensure that any follow up actions are completed.
Participate in internal briefings.
Act as daily coordinator for the Incident Response Service.

Key Selection CriteriaTo be successful in the role you will have an operational background or be experienced in managing incidents in hazardous traffic environments.

Your ability to respond in a calm and timely manner to rapidly changing situations, and be able to communicate effectively with the public, emergency services, technical staff, and contractors, will be essential in this role.

This person is adaptable, resilient, and capable of maintaining composure under pressure, ensuring public safety and efficient incident resolutions. You will also need to be flexible as there will be evening or weekend work at times.
Experience in the management and mitigation of on-road incidents in potentially hazardous traffic environments.
Proven ability to respond rationally and quickly to rapidly changing and potentially hazardous situations relating to roads and traffic.
Proven ability to exercise professional autonomous judgement in deciding appropriate responses to traffic incidents.
Ability to communicate effectively with the public, emergency services, technical staff and contractors.

The ability to negotiate with other agencies in order to influence the overall strategy to deal with traffic related matters.

Computer skills that enable the use of basic software packages and remote electronic and communication devices.
Qualifications and ExperienceLevel 2 First Aid certificateRole specific requirementsDriver's licence.
You may be required to undertake a medical and or other safety compliance requirements.
