Opportunity in Brisbane (Newstead), Toowoomba, Rockhampton, or Townsville

Starting salary:

Looking for a rewarding career that creates an impact? Join as a Senior Generator Stability Engineer at EQL today and focus on generator stability assessments. Even if you're unfamiliar with Energy Queensland (EQL), you might recognize our operational brands like Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Energy Retail, and Yurika. As a whole, we are expanding rapidly and actively contributing to the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP), playing a significant role in driving the shift towards net zero energy.

The Role:
Part of the Renewables & Distributed Energy unit, the Senior Electrical Connection Engineer is tasked with providing technical direction within a specialized team focusing on intricate network stability and planning assessments for all new major loads, generators, and dynamic plant connections to the EQL network. Your responsibilities will involve managing the transition to renewable energy sources and incorporating network-owned power electronics such as batteries.

Engage with key stakeholders, customers, and consultancies at critical stages, including assisting with the connection application, generator registration process, and commissioning phase. This entails reviewing submissions, documents, and dynamic models, followed by conducting your independent assessment to ensure compliance with performance standards and regulations.

Conduct intricate network analyses, evaluate performance against regulatory standards, and support the enhancement and refinement of policies, procedures, and regulations.

With flexible working arrangements and a 9 or 10 day fortnight structure, the starting salary begins at $164,752 for 9 days and $186,170 for 10 days + 12.75% superannuation. The final remuneration will be determined based on the applicant's expertise, skills, and competencies essential for this role. Employment conditions comply with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About You:
In addition to a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, possessing a RPEQ (or equivalent) is mandatory. A solid grasp of the National Electricity Rules and relevant regulations, as well as knowledge of electricity distribution asset construction, maintenance, and operation, is required.

Proficiency in power system analysis tools like PSS/E and PSCAD, along with experience in generator compliance, connection procedures, and network planning studies are essential.

Demonstrated skills in effective communication and negotiation are vital.

Our core values are crucial to us — We Prioritize Safety; We Foster Belonging; We Invest in Growth; We Emphasize Delivering Quality. These principles should resonate with you as well.

Why Choose Us?
Energy Queensland comprises electricity distribution, retail, and energy services entities fully owned by the Queensland government.
