The opportunity

The CPA Best Practice Program was launched in 2021 to help make a difference by leading, educating, and mentoring our public practice members.

This is an opportunity for you to contribute to CPA Australia's vision of partnering with members to prepare them for today and tomorrow, while raising your profile within the profession.Most of all, it's an opportunity to give back to your profession by helping advance trusted and valued accounting and business professionals who go on to enhance their communities. As a Best Practice External Assessor you will be responsible for conducting assessments of members / firms participating in the CPA Australia Best Practice Program (previously Quality Review Program). You will conduct assessments of members / firms will involve conducting interviews with members and / or a face-face whole of business visit. You will work collaboratively with the Engagement Manager from the CPA Australia Best Practice Team to develop a meaningful support plan for the member aimed at supporting the member to meet their professional and ethical obligations.

About you:

You are a currently a member of CPA Australia and be actively or previously engaged in the practice of public accounting and hold a current Public Practice Certificate. You will have an expertise and experience working in public accounting services. You have a strong background and experience as a risk-focused audit professional in the accounting/audit/financial services industry will be required to assess a member's business and compliance risks aligned to Best Practice. A good working knowledge of the Australian Professional & Ethical Standards (APES) framework is essential to be successful in this position. You pride yourself on your excellent communication and customer management skills, which includes the ability to transfer knowledge with a coaching mindset, holding coaching conversations and listening and questioning effectively, while maintaining a strong sense of empathy. An ability and willingness for some travel interstate and regionally throughout the year is a requirement although this is limited and can be negotiated.
