The Victorian Government is enhancing the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, cutting-edge traffic management technology, and Melbourne's premier dedicated busway. These enhancements will significantly reduce travel times and enhance public transportation in Melbourne's eastern region.

Symal is a key player in the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance alongside Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O'Rourke, Arcadis, and WSP. Our responsibilities involve establishing a new interchange linking the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, implementation of smart traffic management technology upgrades, and installation of new noise protection to meet the highest traffic noise standards in Victoria. The local community will also enjoy new and improved walking and cycling connections, enhancements to Koonung Creek Reserve, and rejuvenated wetlands and open spaces.

Position Overview:

As our Alliance continues to expand, we are seeking a Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator to join the Land, Interface, Planning & Environment team in a full-time role.

Reporting to the Stakeholder Interface Manager, you will play a vital role in managing the interaction with key stakeholders (mainly local Government Authorities), ensuring appropriate consultation throughout the project's lifespan.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Stakeholder Interface Manager in managing stakeholder interfaces in line with the overall project schedule and budget
  • Building relationships and engaging with key stakeholders, such as Local Government Authorities (Boroondara, Manningham, Whitehorse) and Department of Transport & Planning
  • Facilitating stakeholder design reviews, coordinating workshops, and managing stakeholder feedback
  • Ensuring clear communication of stakeholder interface requirements and milestones to internal and external project teams
  • Assisting the delivery team in addressing stakeholder concerns related to construction methodologies and access arrangements

Requirements:

  • Over 5 years' experience in an Interface, Stakeholder Engagement, or Communications role
  • Experience in an interface role for a major infrastructure, road, or rail project (Government Authorities experience preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve stakeholder interface issues
  • Experience in stakeholder management with various bodies like Councils and Government departments
  • Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Willingness to travel and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
