The Role


The Workplace Health & Safety Business Partner is responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS Regulations, Compliance Codes and improving WHS efficiencies across the Group.

This role will regularly review the WHS Management framework for effectiveness and continual improvement initiatives, provide advice and support on WHS policies, programs, and practices.


As a HSE Officer, you will:

  • To provide professional & timely HSE advice and training to line managers and employees
  • Monitor the workplace for changes to the Safety Hazards & associated Risks, and any potential impacts to relevant Environmental Aspects
  • Ensure HSE procedures, documentation, databases, inventories, asset storage allocation and plans remain compliant, effective, and accurate
  • Ensure operational activities comply with relevant legislative requirements including loading, packing/unpacking, fatigue management of staff, vehicle guidelines, storage of Hazardous Substances / Dangerous Goods (including maintenance and accessibility to (M)SDS)
  • Organise, control, and coordinate the strategic and operational management of facilities, asset storage, warehouse bays to maximise efficiency
  • Deliver internal WHS related training programs and coordinate external WHS related training as needed
  • Facilitate and manage the Company / Site Induction of new staff and contractors and retain records of inductions and training competencies
  • Contribute to the successful maintenance and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System
  • Report monthly to key stakeholder's monthly on relevant HSE Performance Data
  • Executing of the HSE strategy to continuously improve the HSE Management System in line with the AS/NZS ISO45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and AS/NZS ISO14001 (Environmental) Management Systems' Standards
  • Lead Incident Investigations, including identification of Root Causes, and development of Corrective Action Strategies as required, in consultation with relevant business unit leaders (including Significant 'Near Miss' incidents)
  • Liaise with management & WorkSafe regarding any Notifiable Incidents
  • Monitor First Aid resources and training for continual suitability, and ensure all First Aid treatment is recorded and registered

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Operational HSE experience within a large organisation with multisite requirements
  • Demonstrated highlevel skills in dealing confidently, courteously tactfully and diplomatically to all levels within the organisation, along with highlevel interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ideally a background in production / manufacturing/ construction environment
  • Strong interpersonal and language skills (written & verbal)
  • A commitment to the maintenance and improvement of professional standards & knowledge within the WHS profession
  • Cert IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent (Degree in WHS Highly Desirable)
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Highly Desirable)
  • Return to Workers Coordinator certifications(Highly Desirable)
  • Level 2 First Aid Qualifications
  • Strong safety system knowledge and demonstrated auditing experience/competency
  • The ability to collaborate with others, provide honest & constructive advice and demonstrate behaviours consistent with proactive lead safety standards
