Our client Supagas is an integrated national company servicing all of Australia. Supagas has a wide range of gas and gas related products such as LPG for forklift, heating and domestic purposes; Industrial gases such as Oxygen, Acetylene, Nitrogen, Compressed air, Argon, CO2 and welding gas blends namely Supashield.

Supagas also services the hospitality market by offering food grade CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), Helium (also known as balloon gas), Supamix gases and Nitrogen. During the colder winter months, Supagas offers a range of gas heaters.

Supagas has multiple distribution centres, branches and agencies growing nation-wide and is able to provide a fast and reliable delivery along with personal responses to queries, ensuring quality service every time. Supagas has the state-of-the-art facilities and offers multiple gas types and gas products, as well as run specialised laboratories to mix and test specialty gas.

As an Engineering Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing a diverse range of projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects involving the design, installation, and commissioning of various industrial gas plants, gas filling equipment, site development, and major maintenance projects. You will, however, have a varied role working with Supagas' technical and operational teams, as well as site contractors on other projects. This full-time role is based in Sydney, specifically in Ingleburn.

This role is crucial for overseeing and managing engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Main Responsibilities


• Lead and manage engineering projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.


• Develop project scopes, objectives, and plans, involving all relevant stakeholders.


• Develop comprehensive design documents, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) drawings, equipment general arrangement plans (GA), site layouts and other application design documents to ensure suitability and compliance.


• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.


• Interface with local council and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals.


• Liaise with internal and external designers to develop design and construction drawings.


• Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


• Develop detailed project plans to track progress.


• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.


• Continuously monitor project progress and address unforeseen issues during project execution.


• Ensure all contractors operate with all Supagas safety rules and permits. Upkeep and monitoring of the on-site permit system.


• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.


• Report and escalate issues to management as needed.


• Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders.


• Perform risk management to minimize project risks.


• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.


• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.


• Provide regular project updates and technical reports to keep stakeholders informed and ensure alignment on project goals.


• Implement stringent quality control measures to ensure that projects comply with industry-specific standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.


• Identify potential risks, such as technical and safety challenges, and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.

Qualifications and skills:

You will need to possess the following skills and personal attributes:


• A bachelor degree in the related field and at least 3 years' relevant experience


• Relevant qualification at the level of an AQF equivalent Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.


• Proven experience of a minimum of Two years as a Project Manager, preferably in the gas industries and/or Major Hazard Facilities (MHF)


• Sound knowledge of construction, Industrial gas properties, pipeline and vessel installations, P&ID`s, regulatory matters, and standards


• Ability to lead and manage different engineering projects from conception to completion.


• Proficiency in using project management software and tools.


• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.


• Ability to navigate the regulatory and approval process with local council.


• Self-motivated and dedicated to achieving project goals.
