About the Opportunity:

Reporting to and supporting the Managing Director, the Financial Controller ensures things tick smoothly and oversees finance, supply chain and inventory management.

Your success in this pivotal role relies on having a prior retail background.

You will play a vital role in enhancing company excellence, informing and driving strategic decisions, uncovering insights for business enhancement, optimising inventory levels, supply chain and overall profitability.

Three days of the position entail finance-focused tasks such as end-of-month activities, reporting, and financial management.
The remaining two days prioritise inventory-focused duties aimed at optimising profitability. Reporting into this role a full-time bookkeeper.

Key Responsibility Areas:
Collaborate with the Managing Director to ensure timely execution of all reporting requirements.
Upload and closely monitor stocks levels within the Inventory Management Dear (Cin7) System.

Managing cash flow and perform data analysis to identify improvements and benefits as well as highlighting areas of budget risks.

Ensure prompt updating of stock transfers, receipts, and out-of-stock alerts.
Supervise the Inventory Manager, closely monitor stock levels and optimise utilising Dear Inventory Systems.
Maintain accurate records within Xero and oversee budget forecasts for cost centers.
Prepare fortnightly payroll accurately.
Efficiently onboard new team members into the Payroll System.
Manage Superannuation records.
Ensure timely reconciliation of payroll tax and Workers Comp.
Participate in the development and implementation of business strategies and opportunities.
Effective management of all internal and external resources and personnel related to finance and admin functions.

Actively representing the business as a senior employee by practising and promoting the organisational culture of the business internal and external to the business.

Critically assess and/or develop and document business processes and policies within the Finance and HR functions to maintain and strengthen internal controls and gain efficiencies

Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years' experience in a similar financial/business management role.
Substantial retail expertise with prior exposure to effective inventory management.
High level of commercial acumen.
Prior exposure supporting a high growth/scale up business.
Inquisitive nature, constantly exploring avenues for improvement.
Resilient, resourceful, and flexible in accommodating store requirements.
Dedication to fostering a culture of learning and development.
Forward-looking mindset—capable of aligning operational endeavours with strategic objectives Prior exposure to leading HR activities, policies and procedures.

Knowledge and experience with financial and compliance procedures for end of month, end of year, BAS/FBT requirements, payroll, Work Cover and super.

Enjoy working in an entrepreneurial, fast paced, forward thinking, continual improvement environment.
Demonstrates a collaborative approach in supporting internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
Sound knowledge of accounting standards supported by CPA/CA qualifications – not essential but viewed favourably.
High end skills in Xero and excel essential together with experience in ERP systems.
Experience in financial modelling techniques (and exposure to BI reports viewed favourably).
Strong analytical skills relating to financial performance.
