Infectious Diseases Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist - Sexual Health Medicine

Provide high quality, cost efficient and effective clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients/clients of Metro North Health and encompasses all the roles described in the CanMEDs framework directly or indirectly.

In accordance with the Metro North Health values, the role of the Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist is to provide high quality, cost efficient and effective clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients/clients of Metro North Health and encompasses all the roles described in the CanMEDs framework directly or indirectly. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.

About you

  • Provision of high quality evidence-based, patient/client centred care over a range of HIV and sexual health management (incorporating comprehensive management of HIV, sexually transmitted infections, public health, genital dermatology, gender care, sexual dysfunction and viral hepatitis) as a part of the MDT to provide care
  • The Physician will participate in teaching and education of other members of the multidisciplinary team as well as the development of evidence-based guidelines, service development, models of care collaboration and engagement with stakeholders/ consumers. Additionally, research and to provide research supervision are parts of role.
  • A strong, demonstrated record of community engagement, leadership and advocacy for individuals from priority populations (priority populations in accordance with National and State HIV, BBV and STI Strategies, action plans and frameworks), including
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
    • culturally and linguistically diverse people from high HIV prevalence countries, people who travel to these countries, and their partners
    • gay men and other men who have sex with men
    • people in custodial settings
    • people who inject drugs
    • people with HIV
    • sex workers
    • trans and gender diverse people
  • Ability to deliver culturally appropriate sexual health clinical care (incorporating sexually transmissible infections, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B & C, and gender care) in a specialist environment working within a collaborative practice model of care.
  • Provide and encompass specialist HIV and Sexual Health service clinical delivery including clinical governance, quality assurance, supervision, research, clinical trials, and professional development.
