Our client is a seeking an experienced IR Officer to join a high performing team. This position will be based in Liverpool with hybrid working available on an initial temporary 12 month contract.

Daily Duties

  • Assisting the IR Specialist in providing, accurate and timely advice in accordance with the relevant legislation, policy, and industrial provisions that are relevant to Councils in NSW.
  • Assisting in case management of people and workplace relations matters (including grievances, performance management, discipline and other industrial relations matters)
  • Working collaboratively and under the direction of the Industrial Relations Specialist to assist in the investigation of complex matters, identifying problems, and recommending solutions that meet the relevant legislation, policy and industrial provisions.
  • Working collaboratively with the IR Specialist and HR Business Partners in , educating and supporting people leaders to manage workplace issues at a local level.
  • Supporting the IR Specialist in preparing high quality correspondence, reports, and briefings in relation to industrial relations matters.
  • Ensure department reporting is regularly updated and accurate.
  • Assisting in the management of projects that contribute to developing and implementing innovative strategies and practices to Council.
  • Working closely with the People and Workplace Relations team on various cases and or other HR departmental projects as relevant.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience in interpreting Awards, workplace agreements, legislation and policies.

• Ability to adapt to changing and diverse working arrangements.

• Administrative experience.
Knowledge and Skills

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels internally and externally.

• Knowledge of relevant computer software and the ability to undertake computer research.

• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices, the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity, ethical practice and multi-cultural diversity

• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, sound ER drafting skills and an ability to work autonomously.

• Ability to work autonomously and as a team member to prioritise work and achieve outcomes.
