Overview


The
Women's & Children's Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.

We are the state's leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being South Australia's largest maternity and obstetric service, and statewide Maternal Fetal Medicine service.


Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.


The Health and Recovery, Trauma and Safety Service has a number of services that focus on the health impacts of sexual assault, trauma and violence on wellbeing.


Our division acknowledges and seeks to address the impact if violence on people's health and wellbeing, and quality of life and the history of injustice, and the ongoing impact on Aboriginal people's health and wellbeing.

Metropolitan Youth Health is a service of
Health and Recovery, Trauma Safety Services (HaRTSS) providing free clinical health services (primarily for physical health issues) to young people aged 12-25, in the Adelaide metropolitan community.

The Opportunity


An exciting opportunity exists within
Metropolitan Youth Health (MYH) for a
Youth Health Worker to join the team as a
Young Men/Young Fathers Worker on a
full time, temporary contract up until
30 June 2024.


The Youth Health Worker position is part of the Young Parent's Program within
Metropolitan Youth Health (MYH) and provides support to young men/young fathers who are at risk of using violence or coercive control in their relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will;

  • Engage with young men and young fathers who are disadvantaged and/or vulnerable to access and navigate through specialised primary health care services.
  • Develop and deliver quality outcomes for clients through the provision of youth health care services within a therapeutic counselling approach, and group work aligned to the Metropolitan Youth Health Model of Care.
  • Improve service access and outcomes for young people and young pregnant and parenting people through working in partnership with young people and their families and in collaboration with other health professionals and government and community agencies.
