The Senior Production Planner will be responsible for creation and distribution of production schedules by allocating the usage of labour, equipment, and materials to ensure optimal levels while evaluating suppliers and/or quantity timelines and match according to goals.

Additionally, the Senior Production Planner will lead the Production Planning team to exceed production objectives in the most cost effective manner.


Responsible for:

  • Create weekly detailed production schedules
  • Monitor progress of production to schedule and modify schedules as required
  • Create medium term master production schedule to ensure appropriate future material and resource availability and overseeing planning at our other locations
  • Negotiate with production managers and maintenance teams to ensure that other site activities will not impact the agreed production schedules
  • Implement new processes and further improve current planning practices to deliver our stretched service and inventory targets
  • Mentor, develop and upskill Planning Team Members to exceed role requirements and ensure succession ready
  • Ensure team members perform their tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assign tasks, train team members, provide feedback, mediate interpersonal conflicts, and implement company procedures in partnership with the Human Resources Manager
  • Oversee the work of their team and act as a liaison between their team and management
  • Ensure team cohesion and communication to exceed company goals and objectives
  • Set goals, lead team meetings, and provide support and guidance to team members where required
  • Estimating the amount of material, equipment, and labor required for production.
  • Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
  • Coordinating production operations in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability.
  • Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
  • Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
  • Compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management in a timely manner.
  • Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Certified in Production & Inventory Manager (CPIM) accreditation or other relevant certification
  • Proven experience working as a finished goods production planner in FMCG
  • Sound knowledge of material requirement planning (MRP) and related softwar
  • Working knowledge of WHS policies and procedures.
