Position Information:

Busby Public School (enrolment 227 mainstream students and 20 Support Unit students. Busby Public School has 70% language background other than English and 14% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) caters for students K-6 in a medium density setting within the Liverpool Public School network and acknowledges connections to the Cabrogal clan of the Darug nation.

The school was established in 1963 and has 9 mainstream K-6 classes and a support unit made up of 3 Autism classes.

Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary

  • Highly visible, approachable, and responsive leadership with proven ability to actively engage staff, students, parents, and the community to improve the engagement and wellbeing needs of a diverse range of students.
  • Proven ability in strategically leading the management of the school; demonstrating outstanding interpersonal, communication, administrative and ICT skills that ensures the efficient alignment of resources, while leading and managing the complex day to day operations of the school.
  • Strategically leads collaborative change management processes in order to maintain a culture of high expectations, ensuring effective, evidenceinformed teaching practices that enables student improvement and achievement.
  • Exceptional ability to strategically innovate, modelling collaborative partnerships across the wider school community, with a focus on placing learning and wellbeing outcomes of students, staff and community at the centre of all decision making.
  • Proven ability as a high impact leader who builds capacity; uses high quality data analysis to strengthen executive and staff teams, to achieve systemnegotiated targets, the implementation of new curricula, policy implementation and school improvement plan initiatives.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
