The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) is a statutory body set up to combat and reduce the incidence of major crime and corruption in the public sector in Queensland.

About you

Appointments in the CCC are merit-based and will be assessed by looking at what you have done previously—the knowledge, skills and experience you have built, your potential for development, and your personal qualities which align with the leadership competencies and the CCC's values.

We require that you are admitted, or eligible for immediate admission, as a legal practitioner in Queensland; and

Practising experience that demonstrates:
knowledge of areas of law relevant to the CCC's work, including civil litigation and administrative law;
ability to conduct or direct the conduct of effective litigation in Queensland and Australian courts and Tribunals, particularly in civil and/or quasi-criminal proceedings and including engagement in appropriate negotiation of settlements; and
strong advocacy skills, to effectively examine compelled witnesses in the context of CCC investigative hearings; to conduct applications before the Supreme Court in its civil jurisdiction whether ex parte or represented/contested;

proactive regard to the development of new criminal and civil law of relevance to the exercise of the CCC's functions and the direction of CCC officers, including the preparation and delivery of legal professional development training to multi-disciplinary teams.

Thorough knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire thorough knowledge, of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001(Qld), the Criminal Proceeds Confiscation Act 2002(Qld), and the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999(Qld) and other relevant legislation.

Demonstrated capacity to accurately analyse complex and/or voluminous intelligence and evidentiary material against the relevant legislative framework, including public interest and human rights considerations, to robustly assess merit over the lifetime of a proceeding.

High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide informal direction and prepare formal, written advice; to draft or review complex affidavits, and other court documents including applications, outlines of argument, and draft orders, and to produce or review complex reports and correspondence.
