Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services

IB&M also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing global markets, trade finance, corporate and institutional lending to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business and retail customers.

The Global Markets FIC business within IB&M provides risk management and derivative financing solutions for the Banks clients across a wide variety of clients.

The business works closely with the key industry sector teams to provide market risk solutions to our clients.

As an Associate Director Quantitative Solutions, you will be working very closely with trading, sales, IT and other quants across FIC. The FIC business is global currently with 300 people located in Sydney, London, Singapore & New York as key hubs.

The FIC business focuses on delivering key products to the Banks clients where we have a strategic advantage.

These clients are a mixture of Corporates, Central Banks, Asset Managers and other financial institutions.

You will be part of the Front Office quant group. There are 20 FO quants covering Commodities, FX, Interest Rate, Fix Income, XVA and Validation. As one team, we share the quant platform, the code base and support each other.

Key responsibilities


The focus of this role is to assist in developing risk and pricing tools for the interest rate and fixed income desks.

This will also include developing price and risk infrastructure for new products.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Contribute to the development of pricing and risk models for the FIC business
  • Maintain and further develop quant processes and pricing library of interest rate derivatives;
  • Make strong contributions to the risk management tools and analytics used by the desk, ultimately becoming a risk management partner with the trading desk.

We're interested in hearing from people who have

  • Problem solving mindset with a focus on business outcome within the expected timeframe.
  • Experience in financial instruments and their mathematical specification.
  • Degree in a mathematical discipline e.g. Mathematics, Quantitative Finance or Financial Engineering
  • Proficient programming skills in C++, Python and C#.
  • Advanced verbal, written and numerical analysis skill
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Experience in a quant role will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in development of Beacon or other quantitative finance system will be highly regarded.
