Homelessness Melbourne Metro is committed to providing person centred care, trauma informed practice and a strengths-based approach to improve the health, wellbeing and housing outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

About The Role


The Homelessness Rough Sleepers Team Leader is part of a collaborative Community Outreach case management team that provides support to individuals experiencing primary homelessness and complex care needs.


Melbourne Street to Home focuses on providing intensive assertive outreach to individuals entrenched in long term street homelessness, assisting them to re-engage in housing and support services.


The Women's Outreach Support Services and Intensive Case Management Initiative programs work within Metro Melbourne and have a focus on providing support to working with single adults experiencing Rough Sleeping and complex issues potentially resulting in rough sleeping.


With direction and support, exercise managerial responsibility for the Melbourne Streets to Home Program, Women's Outreach Support Services and the Intensive Case Management Initiative program within Metro Melbourne and ensure the mission and values of The Salvation Army are reflected throughout.


Work in collaboration with the Homelessness Case Management Services in establishing a culture of service delivery that is Person Centred, Strengths Based and Trauma Informed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to resident & client feedback, complaints and opportunities for improvement in a timely and proactive manner
  • Exercise Team Leader responsibility for the Case Management Team
  • Accurate, up to date resident & client records and data is maintained
  • Participate in Case Management Services Leadership Team meetings
  • Leads others to optimal individual and team performance
This is a permanent full-time position, based in Flagstaff, VIC. This role may require your participation in an On Call Roster. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 6.

About You

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development
  • Relevant experience to coach, supervise, manage change and meet tight deadlines
  • Creative outcome focused attitude
  • Advanced communication, written & organisational skills
  • Ability to ensure service delivery outcomes meet the required target
  • Initiative to solve service delivery challenges and manage crisis situations
  • National police record check
  • Working with Children's Check required
  • An International Police Record Check required, where applicable
  • Verification of Qualifications & Certifications required prior to commencement in the role
  • Verification of full COVID vaccination status
