The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) is the peak body for local government in Queensland since 1896.

They connect the state's 77 councils to the people and places that count, advocating for their interests at a state and federal level and supporting their drive to innovate and improve service delivery.


The purpose of this administrative position is to implement, manage and continuously improve the Advocate planning process to ensure team members meet deadlines and milestones for a regular calendar of meetings such as the AGM and to distribute agendas and facilitate the recording of motions.

This planning, coordination and administrative role will support core functions of the work of the Intergovernmental Relations Team and the Advocate Team more broadly.

It includes key functions related to the operations of our Policy Executive, Annual Conference, regional engagement activities (ROCs) along with major projects and campaigns.

The position reports to the External Relations Director.


The 3 core areas of responsibility for this role are (1) the AGM preparation and co-ordination, (2) coordinating meetings for the Policy Executive every 2 months for 15 members and (3) coordinating the facilitation and documentation for the Regional Organisation of Council Meetings.

To succeed in this fixed-term role, you will possess the following experience:

  • High levels of attention to detail and effective quality control.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite, Sharepoint and CRM.
  • Awareness of project planning and processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication & influencing skills.
  • An ability to work calmly under pressure with deadlines and to multitask.
