The Client

Our client is a non-bank lender & investment manager specializing in investment and development funding solutions for high-end residential and commercial projects. Their investor base includes Family Offices, HNW Investors, and Institutional Partners.

The Opportunity

This position presents an exciting chance to identify top-notch lending opportunities across various loan products such as senior debt, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity. As a Relationship/Business Development Manager, your main focus will be on sourcing loan applications through various channels and directly from borrowers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify quality lending opportunities for a variety of loan products, including senior debt, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity.
  • Collaborate with senior management to assess and cultivate new lending prospects.
  • Issue terms sheets to Borrowers, outlining key underwriting conditions.
  • Conduct and review credit risk assessments to uphold high credit standards and manage risk exposure.
  • Provide guidance and training to credit associates to ensure uniform origination and underwriting criteria.
  • Review property valuations and developer feasibilities meticulously.
  • Work closely with the Loan Management team to ensure adherence to approved loan terms.
  • Evaluate requests for condition waivers and credit consent.
  • Support initiatives to bolster the organization's reputation and business endeavors.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, or Property.
  • Familiarity with a broad spectrum of real estate debt products, particularly structured property finance like construction finance.
  • Preferably, experience in relationship management, especially with private investors and developers.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in project management and leading transaction teams to successful closures.
  • Outstanding skills in relationship-building, business development, interpersonal communications, and negotiation to establish a robust market presence.

Experience

  • At least 8-10+ years of lending experience with a focus on strong leadership abilities.
  • Background in lending, with emphasis on origination (relationship management), loan structuring, and property finance.
  • Prior non-bank lending exposure will be viewed favorably.
