Position overview
ANU has a reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as an international reputation for impactful research and education overseas.
This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy.
The ANU College of Health and Medicine is comprised of the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology, John Curtin School of Medical Research and National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH).
These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.
The HDAT is a new team with a great potential to contribute to research excellence of the ANU and improved health policy and program delivery across Australia.
- Conducting and promoting impactful health research to contribute to Australian society;
- Developing capacity and capability within the College to respond to data analytics needs and timely evidence generation when engaging with Commonwealth, state and territory policy departments; and,
- Enhance data access and data governance
- Strengthen partnerships between the College and public service departments and agencies.
The Research Fellow will be expected to work collegially, leading by example to develop and maintain effective, productive and beneficial workplace relationships with all academic and professional College staff, students and honorary appointees, as well as with government and industry stakeholders.
For 2023, our focus includes improving data access through partnership building, exploring a range of emerging and evolving data initiatives and undertaking analysis with practical policy impacts.
The planned analyses will deepen our analytical work with linked data sets such as MADIP and other complex administrative data.
The HDAT is also focusing on making better use of a range of national, jurisdictional, industry and regional data sets to better inform supply and demand modelling and through a range of government and industry partnerships address the workforce planning and development needs of partners.
