Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Surgery Postgraduate Fellow to join our team at the Canberra Hospital. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide competent and efficient clinical management of patients under the supervision of Consultant Medical Practitioners.
  • Participate in the supervision, training, and professional development of junior medical staff and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Demonstrate progress in training in the specialty, including participation in teaching programs and activities, timely completion of assessments, and involvement in research.
  • Participate in the after-hours and on-call roster and maintain currency in an Advanced Life Support Course.
  • Contribute to clinical audit and participate in changes that improve quality and safety of patient care.
  • Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and the policies of Canberra Health Services.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Postgraduate Fellow to gain valuable experience in Emergency General Surgery and Trauma. You will work closely with our experienced team of surgeons and medical staff to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our surgical services.

Requirements

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in General Surgery (e.g. FRACS) and eligibility for membership of the appropriate professional organization.
  • Current driver's license.
