About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a suitably qualified professional to provide efficient and effective information and records management services to Blacktown City Council.

Working in a high performing team, an ideal candidate will have a strong background in record keeping and information management, including classification, registration and distribution of records in an Electronic Document Management System.

The role requires a self-starter who is able to support our Senior Information Management Officer in performing complex management of incoming records including applying access controls, retention and disposal requirements to our records. Experience with high volume email management and use of Content Manager 9 (CM9) is highly desirable in order to quickly adapt to the role.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Recordkeeping or Information Technology or a related field
  • A minimum 4 years experience in a high-volume information management area
  • Strong communication skills, and demonstrated capacity to apply the NSW State Records Act 1998, associated standards and other relevant legislation
  • An understanding of the implications of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the NSW State Records Act and Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience using Kodak scanning applications
  • Strong attention to detail in a high-volume information management area.

Desirable:

  • High level computer literacy and ability to use a range of software products
  • Local government experience in a records management environment.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,308.84 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
