About the Role

Looking for a start at beginning of July. This initial 6-month role (potential for extension) is key to the success in the execution of the track renewal project based in Port Hedland FIFO 5:2, 4:3 Perth (5:2).

Providing skills relevant to enable the successful study and delivery of track renewal and upgrade projects. Delivery and review of track, civil, signalling and communications designs. Development and subsequent delivery of track, civil, signalling and communications construction scopes of work.

About the Role

  • Reporting to the Superintendent Track Renewals Projects, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing input into long term portfolio strategic plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and embed the Track Renewals Project Information Management Process.
  • Responsible for the registration, distribution and disposition on project deliverables.
  • Allocate document numbers as per standards and project requirements.
  • Ensure blue print information is handed over to operations.
  • Provide support, guidance and governance to the project team and contractors.
  • Track and report on outstanding deliverables from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the use of the document management system.
  • Ensuring quality of completed tasks, enhancing knowledge of other team members and promoting continuous professional development.
  • Taking shared accountability for the performance of the team and promoting operational discipline throughout work execution.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (or equivalent) - Civil or Mechanical preferable.
  • Current full Western Australian "C" class motor vehicle license.

  • Ability to identify and mange risks.
  • Ability to build positive and sustaining relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of Core Engineering and Project Management processes.
  • Strong skills across operations, financial planning management, people management and leadership.
  • Adherence to the highest standards in Health & Safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge with respect to rail/track engineering.
  • Proven ability to apply skills in earthworks, hydrology, structures, surveying and track maintenance/renewals activities.
  • Knowledge of heavy haul rail maintenance and renewals practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • The ability to critically review research work, construction plans, specification, drawings and provide workable and reliable documentation.
  • Computer literacy with 1SAP, Microsoft Office and planning systems.
  • Ability to liaise with a broad cross section and culturally diverse workforce.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in similar Rail Project roles (client side)
  • Knowledge of rail road track maintenance and track renewal practices.
  • Knowledge of civil and track design.
  • Strong experience in railroad track maintenance operations.
  • Strong experience in project delivery and project governance.
