A bit about the role
Join our Arboriculture Unit in this newly created role.


You will utilise your proven expertise to provide technical arboriculture advice to developers, landscape architects and contractors in relation to streetscape, open space and general landscape design and delivery activities.


Working alongside the team and leaders, you will assist in holding developers, landscape architects and contractors accountable for the quality tree establishment within the City.


What you will do

  • Conduct site inspections ensuring all trees are being established and maintained to the highest level
  • Assist in keeping department databases updated
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work within developer and contracted areas
  • Contribute to the development of annual plans and budgets
  • Provide input into the development of policies, procedures and standards
  • Resolve minor problems with works and reschedule objectives
  • Occasionally perform manual duties to complete tasks within timeframes as required
  • Plan for and schedule tree deliveries with external suppliers, internal staff and contractors
  • Organise tree quality stock nursery visits and audit incoming trees for quality
  • Respond to customer requests and other requests for maintenance works

What you will bring

  • Posttrade certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively supervising contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and prioritise works
  • Demonstrated knowledge of indigenous flora and fauna communities and their ecological requirements
  • Sound verbal and written skills, including the ability to draft reports, plans and correspondence
  • A current Victorian Drivers licence
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
