4961- Date: 05-Apr-2023- Location: Brisbane, QLD, AU, 4000- Company: Queensland RailWe have a permanent opportunity for a highly experienced passenger vehicle Rollingstock Engineer to lead a team of engineering design staff in performing engineering design functions to improve the safety and reliability of Queensland Rail's passenger rollingstock fleet.
Reporting to the Senior Manager this position leads a multi-disciplinary team of design engineers focused on the improved safety, reliability and cost effectiveness of the passenger rollingstock fleet.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership in relation to the full rollingstock design process in a dynamic and changing integrated passenger rail environment.
- The output of a team of 1015 design engineers to ensure designs comply with legislation, Queensland Rails Safety Management System and best practice.
- Leading an engineering design team that provides expert technical advice, technical assurance and support for the design, modification, maintenance and operation of Queensland Rail's passenger rollingstock fleet.
- Carrying out investigations and make recommendations to improve the safety and reliability of the Queensland Rail passenger rollingstock fleet.
- Lead the development of rollingstock safety standards, rollingstock designs, scopes of work, specifications, instructions, design drawings and any other documents required in relation to rollingstock design and maintenance.
- Mentor and coach senior design engineers to maximise team performance by providing performance feedback, advice, encouragement, training and professional development.
To be successful you must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Significant experience in relation to the design of Bombardier/Alstom rollingstock and onboard systems.
- High level of skill in leading and managing a professional rollingstock engineering design team.
- Significant experience in relation to the development of design procedures and rollingstock safety standards.
- Extensive knowledge in relation to the design and operation of passenger rollingstock and associated equipment.
- High level of skill in developing and continuously improving Rollingstock systems to improve rollingstock safety and reliability.
- High level communication, consultation, negotiation and engagement skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of skill in leading, mentoring and training personnel in engineering design.
