Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead, manage and coordinate the racing services and tracks teams by providing leadership and effective liaison with industry participants to ensure the Club is regarded as an industry leader, delivering high quality racing, racing and training infrastructure, and services that maximise field sizes and wagering income.

In addition, you will ensure the maintenance and delivery of premium racetrack and training track surfaces that meet the needs of racing participants.


You will be responsible for:

Racing- Manage the racing program to attract and retain the best available horses, both locally and internationally, and industry participants to Sydney to compete in ATC metropolitan races. Monitor trends in both on course and off course wagering, government legislation, regulations and Racing NSW rules which affect the industry and impact on the Club's wagering operations and revenue.

Tracks, Training & Maintenance - Develop strategies enhance ATC's tracks, stabling and training facilities as part of the master planning process. Develop and implement a 10-year capital works program for tracks, stabling and training facilities at Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Warwick Farm and Canterbury Park (racetrack only) to ensure facilities befitting of a world leading Race Club.

Leadership - Regular contact and reporting to the CEO, Board, and Senior Leadership team on issues relating to the Racing Services Department and contributing to ATC's overall strategy and management. You will understand that your success is driven by your capability in developing and leading teams in changing business environments, easily communicating your vision and putting into place a well-defined plan where everyone understands their roles and responsibilities, and how they impact the results.

Stakeholder Relations - Maintain productive working relationships with both ATC Trainers, NSW and Interstate Trainers, and other key stakeholders to contribute to the growth of ATC metropolitan thoroughbred racing in Sydney. Manage relationship with racing media and represent the ATC with industry regulators.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in racing and wagering matters;
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and/or Racing regulations;
  • Working understanding of racecourse maintenance and infrastructure requirements;
  • Excellent industry relationships and ability to manage expectations of Trainers, Owners, Regulators etc;
  • Previous leadership experience in Racing;
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to develop innovative policy and practices;
  • Strong business planning skills and the capacity to think strategically.
