The Role

The key purpose of the role is to provide strategic direction, assurance and oversight for the company in social performance.

The role will be responsible for sustainable long-term relationships with government, communities and local indigenous peoples globally to contribute to operational and social performance excellence.

The role will lead the integration of social performance aspects to mitigate risks and impacts; including government relations, major permitting, land access, communities and human rights.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Support site, technical and exploration teams to scope, assess, mitigate and manage social performance risks and opportunities, studies, assessments and management planning
  • Lead, coordinate, and prepare company level quarterly and annual reporting for social performance for the Leadership Teams and Board.
  • Steward and support achievement of company KPI social performance related targets
  • Develop annual and mediumterm plans for social performance and actively contribute to the development of the company sustainability strategy targets and goals
  • Engagement with key international or national NGO or activist groups as required
  • Actively contribute to shaping the company's approach to Modern Slavery and Responsible Supply Chain management.

About you

Required experience includes:

  • Experience across both operational and corporate roles in mining or upstream oil and gas or megainfrastructure
  • International and developing country experience
  • Knowledge of integrating social outcomes into tailings and closure planning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategy development, goal and target setting, standard setting, governance and assurance with a focus on continuous performance improvement.
