Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) is the peak industry body representing manufacturers and distributors of complementary medicines, including vitamins, minerals, herbal, traditional and homoeopathic remedies.

CMA members are committed to providing safe, high-quality products to support the health and well-being of Australians.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to lead CMA as CEO.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the organisation and providing strong leadership to the team.

The role will involve working closely with stakeholders including members, government, regulators, health professionals and the media to promote the interests of the complementary medicines industry in Australia.


The Role:


This is a broad role with several strategic priorities; advocating, encouraging innovation in the sector, influencing regulation at political and administrations level and developing and growing key export markets.

As such you'll be expected to travel interstate and internationally which will make up approximately 30% of your time.

In addition, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the goals and objectives of the organisation
  • Provide strong leadership to the CMA team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Represent CMA in meetings with government, regulators, health professionals and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including members and media
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to promote the interests of the complementary medicines industry in Australia and Internationally

The Ideal Person:

You'll have a track record in leadership, ideally at C-Suite in a complex setting or a regulated sector. It's likely you'll have a Master of Business Administration or a similar qualification


With a strong understanding and passion for Complementary Medicines and the Health sector you'll find it easy to communicate as an effective advocate and respected stakeholder manager.


In addition to this experience, you also have:

  • Proven experience in Government Relations and/or Public Affairs
  • Ability to develop strategies and plans together with key performance indicators
  • Effective team management and supportive of team training and development
  • Sound understanding of financial management and corporate governance

Salary / Rate:

- c. $250k + Super

  • Full PBI + Bonus potential of up to 20%
  • Free car parking
  • This is a permanent fulltime position based in Canberra
This position has regular interstate and international travel required including; USA, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and the UK.
