ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking highly motivated and experienced people to fill the position of Trainer, Custodial Operations (POC2), within the Organisational Capability Unit (OCU).

These positions are primarily responsible for the development, delivery and assessment of operational training for ACTCS Correctional Officers and Custodial Operations.

You will also provide support in the assessment of related accredited qualifications.

In addition, you will develop, review and updated training materials to meet agreed training needs, including manuals, checklists, workbooks and other resources.

Further to this, you will be required to deliver a range of operational training using a variety of methods including group, face to face, one on one coaching and on the job sessions, and provide support to the Assistant Director, Custodial Operations Training with delivery of new recruit and mandatory training.

To be successful, you will have a demonstrated interest or background in developing, delivering and assessing training, in addition to possessing excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills necessary to build rapport with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

1. Current custodial experience in a correctional facility is highly desirable.
2. CSC30122 Certificate III in Correctional Practice (custodial specialisation) aligning with current ACTCS units is mandatory. If not held must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
3. TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) is mandatory. If not held must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
4. Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (custodial specialisation) is highly desirable.
5. The successful candidate will be required to undertake specific training relevant to ACTCS.
6. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
7. This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People check.
