Exciting opportunity to lead the safety strategy at Melbourne Airport during a phase of innovation and expansion.

The Senior Manager - Safety will play a key role in overseeing APAC's safety function, developing and implementing a strategy to ensure a safe workplace at Melbourne and Launceston Airports. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and manage the Safety team.
  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and review of the APAC Safety Management Standard.
  • Manage audit and assurance programs for all Business Units under APAC.
  • Ensure compliance with safety legislation.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Model APAC's values internally and externally.
  • Boost team morale through open communication and goal alignment.
  • Set and clarify team and individual goals in line with APAM's objectives.
  • Provide coaching and support for team members' development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage recruitment needs.
  • Comply with Industrial Relations legislation.

Safety Management

  • Lead the safety function and develop safety initiatives.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs for the Safety Management System.
  • Collaborate with Business Units to enforce safe practices.
  • Oversee safety audits and provide strategic advice.

Safety Reporting

  • Manage safety reporting processes.
  • Review and enhance safety reporting methods.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in OH&S/WHS is preferred
  • Extensive experience in a Senior OH&S role
  • Ability to influence safety outcomes across a business.
  • Experience in a complex operational environment.
  • Capacity to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Experience in developing safety reports for senior leadership.
