About Ku-ring-gai Council

  • Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Kuringgai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Reporting to the Coordinator Bushland Services, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement and participate in the delivery of Council's Pest Species operational works, including but not limited to, the control and eradication of weeds, nuisance plants and feral animals
  • Supervise bushland field officers to ensure that the standard of work performed is in accordance with Council guidelines and that all contact with the public is undertaken in a professional manner
  • Maintain clear and open communication between Bushland Field Officers and the Coordinator Bushland Services
  • Participate in regional network forums to exchange information and maintain best practites initiatives for the effecetive control of pest species.

Required experience & skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent experience in natural area and pest species management
  • Current C Class Driver's licence
  • Tree Felling Certificate
  • Senior First Aid Certificate


 Chemcert/AQF
  • Current White Card Certificate (CPCCWHS1001)
  • Willingness to obtain Bush Fire Fighting Qualifications
  • 3 years demonstrated experience in the maintenance and conservation of the natural environment in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and complying with the Biosecurity Act 2015 and the Pesticides Act 199
  • Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience in the implementation of weed and vertebrate pest control
  • Advanced plant identification skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the aptitude for dealing with the public in a positive manner
  • Ability to lead by example
