The Opportunity


TAFE NSW is looking for
creative and
motivated individuals with
current industry knowledge and
experience in
Community Services to join our team as an
Education Support Officer on a casual basis.


Working within a team of Community Services professionals, the Education Support Officer is supervised by the Head Teacher and works under the direction of a teacher as appropriate.

The role is responsible for a range of activities, which supports learners and enhances the student learning experience and educative processes, with a focus on obtaining work placement opportunities for students undertaking their qualification.


Reporting to the Head Teacher, this position

  • Liaises with community services to plan, negotiate and book work placement opportunities for our students
  • Supplements the teaching activities by providing followup instruction as provided by the teacher and opportunities to practice skills
  • Provides support to students to carry out tasks and understand their learning materials and concepts
  • Supports Teachers and Head Teachers in meeting compliance functions for TAFE NSW

This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment._

  • Highlevel interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team
  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies
