Your Opportunity


The Youth Accommodation Support Services (YASS) provides support, assistance and accommodation for young people who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness.

The service provides support to vulnerable young people by connecting them to school, work, vocational training and other support services whilst assisting them to obtain long term housing.


The Residential Youth Worker will provide holistic care and work within a Trauma Informed Practice model to support to young people living on site in crisis accommodation.

To be successful you will need solid experience working within the youth sector in a residential setting.


This role supports a 24 hour 7 day service and you must be available for overnight shifts as well as weekends.


We have one part time role and one casual role

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Induct clients into the service
  • Develop relationships with young people adhering to boundaries of care practice
  • Support young people to progress towards achieving their goals and develop living skills
  • Monitor clients personal care and hygiene and provide guidance
  • Maintain standards of conduct for the service to contribute to the program success
  • Update case notes and use appropriate record keeping ensuring compliance in the program
  • Collaborate with the team in the care and management of youth at risk
  • Facilitate educational groups and recreational activities

Requirements for Success
With a background in the Child, Youth & Family, Homelessness and/or Community Services sector, you will be confident working alone and, in a youth, residential setting

Other requirements include:

  • Minimum Cert IV TAFE qualification in Relevant Youth Work or Community Services
  • Prior relevant experience and sound understanding of issues facing youth and homelessness
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with high and complex needs
  • Demonstrated compliance with the Code of Ethics for Youth Workers in WA
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft programs
  • Ability to provide evidence of up to date COVID19 vaccinations
  • Hold a valid Drivers' Licence


Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
