About the team:


We are a team of communications and web content experts passionate about getting the best results for users of the content we produce.

We develop user-centred content in line with our intranet playbook, governance framework and the Australian Government Style Manual. We deliver major projects and BAU maintenance.

The Communications Branch provides quality, full-service support for the department and ministers' offices. This includes media and speechwriting, strategic external and internal communications, digital engagement, branding, and visual design. We work closely with the department's executive.

The opportunity:


This is an opportunity to work at the centre of managing delivery of organisation-wide content on the department's intranet platforms.

You'll use your project and coordination skills to help keep the team, projects and BAU running efficiently. You will have the opportunity grow your web writing and publishing skills. It's also an opportunity to work in an agile setting and grow expertise in using agile tools.

You will:

  • Have a positive and proactive attitude toward agile project delivery and planning.
  • Support content activities and workflows effectively, adopting and supporting team tools and processes (essential).
  • Work independently, after being given direction.
  • Independently identify issues and ways to solve problems.
  • Have the ability to create accessible content using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Australian Government Style Manual.
  • Publish content using content management systems
  • Understand who your stakeholders are and the importance of these relationships. Work to understand their needs.
  • Be a flexible, supportive team player.

What you will do:

You will:

  • Support agile content projects administration, including creating and maintaining content tracking to help the team stay organised.
  • Support team planning and generating new ideas and strategies.
  • Take the initiative to complete work in agreed timeframes.
  • Edit, write, proofread and publish intranet content.
  • Adhere to the Australian Government Style Manual standards, including readability and accessibility.
  • Action other duties as required to help with the effective functioning of the digital content in the team.

Desirable

  • Experience using SharePoint Online and/or ServiceNow.
  • Use a range of technologies to support your work such as Azure DevOps and readability tools.

The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is ACT - Industry House based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered. Please reach out to the contact officer to discuss this further.
