Our Organisation

The Benevolent Society's vision is to create a fair society where every Australian can live their best life. With a history of over 200 years, we have provided support to various groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, children, young people, families, older individuals, carers, and people with disabilities.

As an independent, non-religious service provider, we empower individuals to live on their terms. We are dedicated to promoting reconciliation with Australia's First Nations people and strive for their economic, political, and social inclusion.

About the role

The Team Leader-Lead Supervisor of the Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare High Track (FFT-CW HT) program will oversee a team of 4 Therapists in Metropolitan Sydney. The role involves ensuring services are delivered effectively and in a culturally sensitive manner, following the program model.

FFT-CW HT is a proven family preservation program that targets young people (0-18 years old) and families in child protection settings. This initiative aims to enhance family dynamics and reduce risks, ultimately decreasing the number of children in care.

You will lead a team of Family Therapists, offering clear and focused leadership, as well as professional supervision. Collaboration with the program developers, The New York Foundling, is key to providing training and support for the team.

Duties:

  • Provide regular supervision to Therapists focusing on child and/or family safety, review session notes and clinical practice within the model, and create professional development plans for each Therapist.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to maintain high performance standards across the team and address staffing challenges.
  • Lead weekly team clinical supervision to ensure adherence to the model and promote peer learning.
  • Carry a caseload of 4 families.
  • Monitor and assess the team's outcomes with families in consultation with an external FFT-CW consultant.
