About the Role

The HR Governance and Risk team has recently been established to work collaboratively across the HR function and Global Business Services HR function to improve governance practices and enhance the risk culture.

The Principal role aims to offer expert advice in support of these goals. The role covers a broad spectrum, providing specialized knowledge on oversight and governance across various HR areas such as HR Global Standards, HR policies, processes, operating model, employment, and payroll requirements. This position adds value to the organization by consistently reviewing and enhancing risk management, governance, and assurance programs.

  • Reporting to Manager HR Governance Risk, your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to design, implement, and execute governance & assurance activities related to end-to-end HR Global Standards, policies, HR documentation, processes, and operating models.
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure understanding and correct application of employment terms and conditions.
  • Leading the governance process for Payroll Blueprints, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Agreements, legislation, and policies.
  • Coordinating HR Risk forum activities to review risk management across all HR functions.
  • Leading SOX control activities for HR in partnership with Group Finance & Accounting as the "HR SOX Champion".
  • Managing reporting obligations for HR, including contributions to the Annual Reporting suite.
About You
  • You should also possess the following:
  • Prior experience with HR systems and processes in a complex global business environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge and interpretation skills of HR policies, employment legislation, and industrial instruments.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of risk management frameworks and practices.
  • Ability to coordinate work and deliverables across multiple groups.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) concerning controls.
  • Although not compulsory, strong business acumen with experience in the resources industry is highly valued.
Location

This role offers flexibility to be based at BHP's Australian corporate offices in Brisbane, Perth, or Adelaide. The work schedule is Monday-Friday with flexible work options available.
