Metso Outotec is looking for a Flotation Process Specialist. This role can be based in the following locations; brisbane - Australia, Irapuato - Mexico or Burlington - Canada.


This role in the Optimisation & Lab Services team (part of Expert Services), requires someone with a high level of flotation expertise for delivering process optimisation and support services related to flotation circuit performance.

The role requires the ability to understand customers flotation circuit challenges and requirements, define scope and costs for proposal delivery, negotiation of pricing (including with other teams inside or outside of Expert Services as needed), and finally, deliver the on-site and office-based data collection and analysis to provide recommendations for improvement.

Experience in flotation circuit theory and practice, analysis of test work, sample collection and analysis, modelling and simulation using a range of tools and methods, and experience in operations are essential to this role.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Independently conduct flotation cell and flotation circuit optimisation projects for mining operations globally including the following activities:
Visiting customers to discuss issues, identify potential solutions and negotiate sales.

Preparation of proposals as required, including coordination of input from various teams as needed and deliver projects to achieve team targets for orders and profit.

Taking the lead when multiple sources of input is required from within our team and from other teams, to ensure a high-quality document is prepared in a timely manner.

Travelling to customer sites globally to conduct flotation circuit audits and surveys, and other tasks as required (with support if necessary).

Conducting flotation circuit data analysis to identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations for improvement. A range of tools and methods can be used.
Be part of the team providing on-site process (slurry) commissioning services for flotation cells and circuits.
Provide operator and metallurgical engineering level flotation training regarding flotation fundamentals, best operating and control practices, and troubleshooting.
Presenting team capabilities externally and internally, to market areas, colleagues, customers, at conferences etc.

Helping develop service support contracts and providing flotation-related input including ongoing continuous improvement to flotation performance and sustained grade / recovery improvements.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Mining, Mineral Processing or related field.

  • 7 years' experience in the mining industry, including time spent in the field.
Experience in technical data analysis and review of technical documents, mineralogical reports and flotation test work data.

Familiarity in the use of JKSimFloat, HSC and / or other flotation simulation software, with a good understanding of the underlying models.

Excellent skills in the use of the MS packages, especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Fluency in English language and with excellent communication skills - written, verbal and comprehension.
Ability to understand customer needs and execute solutions on-site.

Strong customer focus and ability to work collaboratively to achieve good outcomes for customers, particularly with a focus on development of ongoing service contracts.

Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Desirable Experience:

Experience and skills in commercial negotiation, SAP and / or Salesforce highly regarded.
Masters or PhD degree in a relevant field.
Experience in slurry commissioning flotation circuits very highly regarded.
Fluent in speaking Spanish will also be an advantageous.
