Agency Purpose


The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team


The Labour Hire team supports the AEC to procure Labour Hire Services through the Whole of Australian Government (WoAG) People Panels.

The team liaises with business areas to determine the requirements of their vacancy and provide support throughout the procurement process and management of contracts.

The Recruitment Section has a positive culture that values initiative, creativity and commitment. In addition to the Labour Hire team, the section also includes the Recruitment, Onboarding and Surge Recruitment teams. All teams across the section work collaboratively and hold regular whole section meetings and social events.

The Opportunities


This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing and fast paced team that supports the AEC in its day-to-day labour hire recruitment activities.

As part of the Section, you will contribute to delivering high quality services and assist on key projects across a geographically dispersed network.


As an APS6 Recruitment Advisor, you will be required to undertake work that is complex in nature and support the management of the team, including allocating work and monitoring team performance.

these positions will be filled in a non-ongoing capacity until 30 June 2025. The merit pool may be utilised to fill future ongoing positions._

To excel you'll have:

  • Strong skills and experience in a procurement administration environment.
  • Proactive attitude with a passion for supporting stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across different platforms within tight timeframes and in line with legislative requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network, including strong written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify potential problems or issues and treatments to mitigate.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and proven ability to create guidance materials to support change.
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk and a commitment to a culture of governance.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
In addition to the above, the APS 6 Recruitment Advisor will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff while developing capabilities, encouraging career development and promoting professionalism.
  • Proven ability to make decisions using good judgement, expertise and knowledge, under limited guidance.
