The Customer Success Commercial team runs the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), P&L Management, Sales performance management, OPEX/CAPEX portfolio and lead Business case evaluation with COE.

The Associate Director Retail supports the Retail SLT in delivery of financial targets and business critical metrics.


Within this context, you will take on a highly visible role as the business partner to the Retail Sales SLT providing commercial leadership to support operational and strategic decision making and ensure achievement of both customer and financial objectives.


The role has primary responsibility for:

  • To be a trusted Business Partner (acting as a 'mini CFO') supporting the Retail teams deliver significant Optus consumer sales volume and managing a significant cost base;
  • Being a key member of Retail SLT as well as Commercial lead in discussions with external Retail Partners and their National Advisory Council as they manage retail stores;
  • Drive the overarching Retail strategy and challenge the status quo to help delivery success;
  • Support Retail Distribution strategy and ensure the impact of distribution decisions on Opus' and Partner profitability is fully understood;
  • Ensure the Retail Opex/Capex/Commission budgets are optimised to drive the best outcome for the business and store profitability insights guide commercial decision making;
  • Risk, Compliance and Audit Management across all areas of Retail; &
  • Support and be the face of all commercial needs within the Retail business.

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Ability to work in an environment with constant change and fast paced within the consumer business;
  • Degree qualified in a business/commercial field with significant experience in Sales commercial management ideally in a large corporate organisation (Telco advantageous);
  • Proven analytical thinking with the ability to conceptualise and build alternatives;
  • Find opportunities and frame potential obstacles as opportunities for new alternatives; &
  • Gains dedication and agreement through outstanding communication skills.
