About the Role

We are on the lookout for a skilled writer and editor to join our team. In close collaboration with our Evaluation & Advisory and Corporate Services teams, you will have a crucial role in producing, reviewing, and refining content for various purposes such as tender submissions, project reports, policies, processes, emails, and our website.

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Enhance and proofread materials to ensure coherence, accuracy, and compliance with the Australian Government Style Manual and project needs
  • Guarantee documents adhere to accessibility standards and aid writers in remediation when necessary
  • Create clear and captivating content tailored for different audiences, including government stakeholders, healthcare professionals, AHA personnel, and the general public
  • Offer valuable feedback and direction to writers to enhance their writing skills and boost its effectiveness
  • Design visually appealing and user-friendly documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Develop high-quality infographics
  • Identify ways to enhance processes for document creation, review, and online publication

You will have the chance to work from our Melbourne office one day per week at least, with the flexibility to work remotely for the rest of the week.

About You

We are seeking a passionate writer, editor, or communications expert with relevant experience in government, consulting, or research fields, preferably within health or social sciences. You should possess:

  • Outstanding written communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Excellent editing abilities, including expertise in substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Word styles
  • Familiarity with Mendeley or similar citation software
  • Effective time management skills to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines consistently
  • The capability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment and collaborate productively
  • Experience in applying the Australian Government Style Manual and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to professional writing
  • A strong eye for detail, precision, and exceeding client expectations
  • The talent to translate intricate data and concepts into impactful visuals, such as diagrams, graphs, flowcharts, and infographics (preferred)
