Our client is a not-for-profit who conducts research, development, and marketing along the worldwide supply chain of the food and fiber industry on behalf of farmers across Australia.


Located in Sydney, our client is on the search to welcome an enthusiastic and passionate Project Officer and will be responsible for assisting with the management of funded projects and proposals associated with research programs within the On Farm Research portfolio.

Your Role


This role will be classed as a hybrid role which will involve three days in the office & two days based at home.

Also, would suit a graduate with a background or knowledge of the Australian livestock or sheep industry.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to

  • Coordinate and monitor relevant internal deadlines, processes and deliverables related to board meetings, the RDC committee and the animal welfare committees and team/staff meetings (the latter two across relevant departments)
  • Coordinate and monitor relevant internal deadlines, processes and deliverables related to the annual call for Proposals across relevant departments;
  • Responsible for the effective administrative and project management of funded projects and proposals associated with the onfarm research team portfolio;
  • Manage and review project budgets in the onfarm research programs, in liaison with the relevant Program Managers;
  • Monitor allocated projects to ensure they are progressing satisfactorily and keep the relevant Project and Program Manager(s) informed of any concerns;
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to managers on program and project data, and assist with the interpretation of those reports; assist with the reporting on operational and strategic plans;
  • Draft legal documents, including project contracts, consultancies, nondisclosure agreements and purchase orders; this will involve liaison with research providers and with the Contracts & IP team;
  • Liaise with research providers and commercial partners to ensure their obligations are being met
  • Maintain project information in the project management database, including management of project milestones;
  • Review publications in the onfarm researchrelated programs and ensure they comply with the correct publications procedure;
  • Maintain project information in the management system, process invoices, carry out filing (hardcopy and electronic); and perform other administrative tasks as required;
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for staff and external stakeholders as directed;
  • Liaise with staff from other programs and departments to enlist their assistance with On Farm and Off Farm projects and operational matters requested by other departments relevant to the onfarm research team.
About You

Ideally, you are an outgoing and collaborative person with the ability to work autonomously, and with others.

To be successful in this role, you will also have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Animal Science, Agricultural or a related degree.
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Working/intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite of products
  • Experience with SAP would be highly regarded
  • Knowledge/background in the Australian livestock or sheep industry
  • Previous experience in project administration is essential
  • Previous experience in contract administration is desirable
  • On farm work experience is highly regarded Other Skills & Attributes
