The program

The Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) works to improve the capacity of very young parents to live and parent independently, ensure best outcomes for their children, and reach their full potential within safe, strong and resilient families through its Residential, Outreach, and Aftercare stages.


The opportunity

The Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) is specifically designed for young people who are parenting with limited family or community support.

The role of the Volunteer Driver Mentor is to provide an opportunity for learner drivers within the Young Parents Program (YPP) to gain some of their 120 hours compulsory driving experience using a Red Cross vehicle.


We are currently looking for volunteers willing to provide 2-4 hours per week on an as needed basis with more regularity in the future as our young clients return to more regular sessions.

The role is to supervisor and encourage the driver, and not necessarily to teach. All the young parent drivers experience at least 5 professional lessons first.

The impact

As a Volunteer Driver Mentor, you'll reduce some of the barriers for young parents to access essential early learner driver experience.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World's largest humanitarian network.
