Why this role matters


The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence.

We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

About the role


We are seeking a values-driven Support Worker, who under direction, this role provides brief intervention support to participants, provides administrative support to the First Response Team and liaises with Stakeholders.

You will successfully

  • People accessing the service are provided with a welcoming and responsive initial contact and urgent and immediate needs are addressed
  • In consultation with more senior worker/s appropriate preventative action is taken in relation to potential highrisk situations
  • Information is provided to assist in assessing and addressing client issues, needs and circumstances
  • Effective relationships are established with people that encourage selfdetermination and participation and support them to improve their situation
  • Collaboration and effective communication with case workers to ensure timely and person centred support to participants.
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Spring Hill, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Crisis Level 1.

You will have

  • Diploma qualification in Community Services or related field with relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills.
  • A national police record check is required
  • An international police record check is required, where applicable
  • A Working with Children/Vulnerable people check is required
