Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Station & Renewables

Zenith Energy (Zenith) is a leading company in the sustainable energy solutions industry, focusing on tailored off-grid power generation and service models in Australia.

Join Zenith to take part in building or operating hybrid renewable energy projects in Western Australia, incorporating Solar, Wind, Thermal Energy Generation, and LNG storage.

About the role

As a key member of Zenith's Engineering Team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will play a vital role in the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of Hybrid Power Station projects.

  • Assist with preliminary power system design, including specification of switchboards, transformers, and power conversion systems.
  • Analysis of HV and LV distribution, control, protection, metering, and earthing systems.
  • Detailed design integration of solar arrays, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Thermal generation, and Wind Turbines.
  • Cable sizing and selection, documentation of design and calculations.
  • Development of test and commissioning plans and procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement solutions to issues with existing power generation and distribution assets.

About You

Experience:

  • 8+ years in electrical engineering design, preferably in Power Station design.
  • Development of electrical standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Engineering, design, and selection of Medium and Low Voltage electrical equipment.
  • General knowledge of Protection Systems.
  • PLC and Protection relay experience is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • HV Distribution and Switchboard design for Power Generation and Distribution Systems.
  • Designing and creating specifications for Medium and Low Voltage Systems.
  • Knowledge of LV Electrical motors and drives.
  • Reviewing and approving the work of other engineers.
  • Liaising with Vendors and other project functions.
  • Supporting the construction team for technical requirements and queries on-site.
  • Reviewing and approving Factor Site acceptance testing on electrical equipment.
  • Ability to develop control designs and select equipment suitable for work packages.

Qualifications and Clearances:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, National Police Clearance, and Right to work in Australia are a must.
