Our client a Global Oil and Gas organization in Perth CBD are currently seeking a Contracts Engineer to join them for a 12-month contract.
The role requires someone with extensive experience in management of complex contracts in the oil and gas or energy sectors, including reimbursable contracts and offshore labour services agreements.
Successful candidate will be responsible for management of all contractual matters relating to the reimbursable Head Contract with one the organizations major clients and will assist with management of various subcontract agreements including contract negotiations, variations, claims and disputes.
This is a key position within the Project Management Team and potential candidates must be able to demonstrate sound understanding and practical experience in developing and driving contractual and commercial strategies required to optimise profitability, mitigate contractual risks and protect organizations rights and remedies.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to the Project Management Team in relation to the implementation of the Head Contract and key subcontracts and prepare regular reports for senior management;
  • Develop and drive appropriate contractual strategies to mitigate contractual risks, ensure profitability and protect T.EN's rights of remedy for claims and variations;
  • Prepare detailed risk assessment, rights and obligations and risk and opportunity analysis of the Head Contract and regularly communicate to the Project Management Team including any changes and updates;
  • Proactive and timely management of the contractual Variation and Change processes with a view to maximising opportunity for positive Project upside;
  • Ensure that Project Manager, project engineering team, cost controller, etc. are all engaged in the preparation, negotiation and execution of all Claims and Variation Orders with the Client;
  • Monitor key deliverables under the Head Contract and associated risks and opportunities in the event of deliverable failure;
  • Foster a culture of risk mitigation and optimisation of opportunity within the Project Team;
  • Monitor administration of all performance bonds, guarantees and insurances in accordance with the Head Contract requirements;
  • Lead the process of negotiation, formation and post-award management of key subcontract agreements for the Project;
  • Ensure that all necessary Project records are created and accurately maintained throughout the life of the Project.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
  • The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering or relevant similar discipline;
  • You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Contracts Engineer/Contracts Lead/Contracts Manager working within the oil and gas or energy sectors;
  • You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing reimbursable contracts in the offshore or subsea industry sectors, including managing variations, disputes, negotiations and claims for the same;
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the relevant Legal, Compliance and Regulatory requirements pertaining to the offshore energy and construction sectors.
  • Desirable: Relevant understanding of the technical requirements associated with subsea production and offshore operations.
