Fire Alarm Systems Technician

Amentum is looking for a Fire Alarm Systems Technician to play a crucial role in a versatile team, responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining facility infrastructure and essential systems at OASIS. This position involves providing professional service by carrying out technical repairs and maintenance on all assigned fire alarm equipment within the facility. The role includes planning, coordination, organization, scheduling, and resource management for the day-to-day maintenance of the fire alarm systems.

As the Fire Alarm Systems Technician, your main tasks will include timely and effective completion of fire system maintenance, identifying and rectifying deficiencies as necessary, and collaborating within a small team of technicians to foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will support the implementation of new initiatives and technological advancements. This role is ideal for individuals who can think quickly, adapt to changing demands, and deliver tasks to high standards while closely working with the Facilities Operations Team, other Facilities Maintainers, and OASIS departments to ensure reliable, consistent, and efficient maintenance and operation of facility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire systems and associated infrastructure in compliance with relevant standards
  • Perform repairs and installations of related fire systems and infrastructure
  • Program Notifier system
  • Coordinate life safety system impairments with operational and maintenance personnel as needed for repairs, maintenance, and new installations
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all relevant facilities infrastructure, equipment, and systems
  • Inspect fire extinguishers
  • Train site incident response personnel in the operation of life safety systems
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as assigned

Essential Requirements

  • NICET II or III certification in Fire Alarm Systems
  • Thorough knowledge of Workplace Health Safety (WHS) Act and EHS policies & procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in Facility Maintenance or a similar technical environment
  • Sound understanding of technical terminology related to Electrical infrastructure and electronic equipment
  • Familiarity with facilities equipment and operations
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective)

Desirable Qualifications

  • NICET I or II - Fire Special Hazards
  • NICET I or II - Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems
  • Experience with Notifier systems
  • Trade qualification
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (SAP, Archibus, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with a variety of fire systems and suppression equipment is highly valued

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employees must be physically fit to complete all tasks associated with their role safely, including carrying heavy loads and navigating through maintenance environments

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

Employees must acquire and maintain the necessary security and medical clearances required for their role. US employees will need a TS/SCI clearance with poly.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel working at the site must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English

  • Performing work tasks safely
  • Reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisors or the EHS Manager
  • Complying with environmental, health, and safety procedures outlined in the Handbook
  • Exercising the right to stop work if a job is unsafe or poses an environmental threat
