As a Remote Communications Technician, your role will focus on providing remote communications support to our Oil and Gas sites as well as the wider Ventia business.

The point of hire is Toowoomba (you will fly or drive to site from Toowoomba).


Although this role is predominantly focused on the Rigs and Well Services contract, there will be the opportunity to work on interesting projects outside of the normal scope.

One of the projects the remote communications team supported was The Japan Aerospace Exploration Space Agency's (JAXA) Hayabusa2 mission.

The team provided the network systems in remote locations in Woomera, South Australia for the first ever sub-surface asteroid samples to be returned to Earth.


About you


You will have proven success in a similar role, experience working in remote locations and sometimes harsh environments, ability to design, mend, implement and maintain remote communications equipment (VSAT, Radio, MATV and network infrastructure).

You will have a positive, can-do attitude, remain calm in stressful situations, and use your initiative to be proactive and resolve issues.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Structured, coaxial and fibre cabling certification
  • Valid Australian Drivers License
  • Experience working with satellite networks & equipment
  • Familiar with MATV systems
  • Proficient using hand and power tools
  • An awareness of IT infrastructure, such as network switching
  • Truckloads of enthusiasm and positivity
