This role suits an experienced underwriter aiming to broaden their responsibilities and deepen their underwriting expertise within a respected unit of a leading global insurance company. The ideal candidate will prioritize a positive customer journey, while maintaining solid underwriting practices and efficient data and file management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a profitable portfolio of property business with a focus on Mining and Energy, while contributing to the broader Technical Lines Team.
  • Cultivate relationships with brokers and customers to capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • Evaluate and select property risks within the company's risk tolerance.
  • Underwrite assigned accounts with thorough analysis and documentation.
  • Tackle complex and challenging risks by providing innovative solutions.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced setting, handle multiple tasks, and make informed decisions while upholding underwriting standards.
  • Collaborate with the claims team to ensure a positive and transparent customer experience.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of Energy, Mining, and/or Property underwriting experience.
  • Established or ability to rapidly develop strong broker and client relationships.
  • Solid underwriting expertise.
  • Familiarity with policy forms, including broker manuscripts.
  • Experience in marketing to specialized brokers.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, encompassing negotiation, presentations, and interpersonal communication.
  • Degree or equivalent education, and/or substantial insurance qualifications.
