About the role

Manage the delivery of one or more technology projects within the Digital Portfolio, focused on applications for Enterprise Asset Management e.g. solutions for investment portfolio optimisation; asset management; hydraulic modelling; geospatial capability; field mobility and so on.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Project planning:Plan out the required tasks that need to be completed for end-to-end project delivery along a timeline.
  • Risk management:Identify and manage any risks associated with completing the project.
  • Budgeting:Formulate and manage the project budget then report on how the project is tracking against its financial plan. Manage any budgetary issues as they arise.
  • Stakeholder engagement / communication:Work with project stakeholders to coordinate the outcomes of a project. Communicate project status and keep stakeholders informed and engaged to drive outcomes and benefits delivery.
  • Resource management: Ensure the correct resources are planned and assigned to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Leadership & Delivery Accountability:Ensure project team members remain motivated, on task and effective. Ensure the project is delivering the desired outcomes and scope to achieve business benefits.
  • Time management:Ensure the project is scheduled to an appropriate level. Manage and update the schedule as the project progresses and identify options to mitigate any schedule risks.
  • Change Control:Adjust and update the plan when circumstances change and ensure the project is using the correct approach, aligned to SW project management and governance processes.
  • Reporting:Monitor progress and regularly report back to key stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement:review and report on the project outcomes when completed and improve our processes to deliver more efficiently in the future.

Department Overview:

This role sits within the Digital Portfolio Management team which includes three functions:

  • Portfolio Management: Management of the Digital investment initiatives, including projects/programs that deliver the strategic outcomes for Sydney Water (where this role sits).
  • Portfolio Demand and Capacity: Focused on forward planning, resource and workforce management to meet the demand of our portfolio of work.
  • Portfolio Management Office: Supports and enables the successful delivery of projects and programs whilst providing commercial oversight and assurance to key forums.

Who are we looking for?

  • The Project Manager is accountable for project management to successfully deliver one or more projects, dependent on the size and scope. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated candidates who have:
  • Effective leadership, coordination, and team building skills.
  • Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the successful delivery of technology projects, particularly those relating to asset management.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in different project delivery approaches, including waterfall, SCRUM & SaFE and Iterative/Incremental.
  • Knowledge of current best practice in the delivery of IT solutions, project management methodologies and their application to IT projects.
  • A degree in technology or related discipline is desirable.
  • A qualification in project management (PRINCE2 Certification / PMI Certification) is desirable.
